The Rev. James J. Midgley was appointed as Pastor of First United Methodist Church of Ansonia on July 1, 2014. Pastor Jim was ordained in the Roman Tradition in May 1990 and served in several churches as well as in High School Ministry and was a Chaplain in the U.S. Navy Reserve for three years.
Pastor Jim completed his undergraduate studies at St. Hyacinth College-Seminary, Granby, MA and did his graduate theology studies at the Gregorian University in Rome, Italy. Pastor Jim also earned a Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Cambridge College, Cambridge, MA.
Pastor Jim has a passion for active pastoral ministry and remains firmly committed to bringing the richness and beauty of the church out to all especially those without a church home and those who are seeking that which only God's love could ultimately satisfy. Pastor Jim centers his ministerial focus on helping to create a spiritual community so people can witness the love and support we have for each other as a Christ-centered community of faith.''
Pastor Jim and his wife MaryEllen have four children. The oldest, David is a commercial wallcovering and painting contractor in New York City. David has been successful in growing his own business and has expanded into the tri-state area. Heather is a Licensed Occupational Therapist and loves working with young children in Birth to 3 as well as with Developmentally Delayed adults. Britney graduated from Western New England University School of Law, and was recently sworn in as an Attorney to the Connecticut Bar. The youngest is James, age 10, who is a very happy and enthusiastic fifth grader.
